I love food. I love being surrounded by family and friends talking over a good meal. Being healthy involves taking care of yourself, not just with what you put in your body, but mentally and physically.
I received a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics and went on to obtain a Master's degree in Public Health. My goal is to help you achieve a life you feel good about.
Here are some of the keys to wellness I believe in:
I believe in eating whole, real foods most of the time. Moderation is crucial. When we deprive ourselves of something, we tend to think about it more, which can result in eating everything else, then end up eating the food we were craving anyway.
I believe in mindfulness. Understanding the type of hunger you are experiencing is key to wellness. Whether it's hunger cues or emotional chaos, learn to listen to your body and give it what it craves. Together, we can develop techniques to help you achieve this.
I believe in leaving a lower carbon footprint. This can be done by simply purchasing foods that are local and require less manufacturing and processing. Venture out on the weekends to your local food market or join a CSA (community-supported agriculture) group. If you eat animal meat, find local farms to support.
I believe in a sense of adventure and trying new things. What do you do for yourself? When's the last time you took up a hobby, explored a new city with a loved one, or ate a new cuisine? Making time for yourself, even if it's for 15 minutes, is one aspect to make you a better you.
